December Style

In a sea of garish Christmas lights and seasonal sweaters, how we love killer fashion events that just happen to coincide with the holidays. Here are some snapshots of what we saw over the weekend.

Not every event this weekend necessitated a plate of foil-wrapped cookies and a seasonal lapel pin for admittance. And we were duly delighted to attend two of them — the Edith Palm installation at Eighth Veil on Sunset, followed by A Current Affair's vintage extravaganza at the Cooper Design Space.

Edith Palm designer Sarah Aaronson drew inspiration from Austrian early expressionist painter Egon Schiele for a post-WWI Vienna, Judaic fantasy collection (tip o' the hat to our good friend Jayne at California Apparel News, who first alerted us to the event). Beautiful work, as usual, from this Gen Art alum who deserves a lot more fashion cred in L.A.

Following the Eighth Veil we headed east to A Current Affair's well-attended (how is that possible, during the holiday season party scrum?) pop-up marketplace at Cooper Design Space, hosted by Liz Goldwyn, author of Pretty Things: The Last Generation of Burlesque Queens. Oleg Cassini, Balmain and Issey Miyake were among the vintage finds. We'll start shopping for everyone else on our holiday list besides us any day now.
