Glitter Girls

Three L.A. jewelry designers who make us want to totally bling out.

Thousands of jewelry lines come out of L.A. — but very few feel as innovative and fashion-forward as the trio we've distilled below. In each, mixed materials and a style-savvy perspective make the magic happen.

Sophie Monet

Native Angelino Sophie Monet hand-crafts jewelry out of natural wood left over from the sculptures and works of art her father, artist John Okulick, leaves behind. The two share a studio in Los Angeles, and confab on all things arty.

Triangle necklace in zebra wood and oval turquoise cabachon, $145.

Leopard Wood Bar Earrings dipped in 22 karat gold leaf, $98.

Gilded U Necklace in wood and 22-karat gold leaf, $132.

Jacquie Aiche

Halle Berry, Rihanna and Penelope Cruz are among the celebs who've taken a shine to L.A. denizen Jacquie Aiche's jewelry, which runs the gamut from earthy-crunchy-chic to classic with a twist (see the ladylike F&*k ring below.)

Geode ring, $570.

14-karat Love pendant with diamond, $2,035.

F*&k ring with diamond, $485.

Ankh by Racquel

Brand new jewelry line Ankh by Racquel is inspired by "dreams, instincts, nature and the psyche." We dig designer Racquel Honore's subversive, found-object aesthetic. Check out the painted pennies necklace below.
