Buh-Bye, Tranny Booties
Paper-thin leather jackets. Slouchy pegged pants. Body-conscious mini-dresses. Even though these ubiquitous trends have been hanging around a while, they still somehow feel as fresh as a froyo just out of the Pinkberry machine.
But there are a handful of current looks in heavy rotation that either never made much sense, sartorially speaking, or have simply been worn to death on both red carpets and the dance floor.
A few looks we're hoping will soon wither on the vine...
Opaque black tights with light-colored dresses

Vogue fave Carey Mulligan really put the cap on this tube of toothpaste when she showed up in a lace Miu Miu dress worn with thick black tights to this year's Met Ball. But at this point, nearly every starlet (and, um, Courtney Love) has rocked this look at least once. And it no longer reads indie/ingenue/artsy. It just looks heavy and sad.
Sparkly jackets and jeans

Yeah, it's an easy way to look dressy without wearing a dress. But after too many nights out in a row (like, thousands), the sparkly jacket-jeans combo is looking about as tired as Lindsay Lohan's extensions.
The printed summer dress with the heavy accessories

This seasonally dyslexic look — propulgated by Urban Outfitters to this very day — has always felt like a fly-by-night trend that somehow got stuck in the Matrix. And now we're hoping it dissolves like Splenda in a cup of Earl Grey.
Peep-toe tranny booties

When everyone from Victoria's Secret to JCPenny makes a version of a shoe style, you know it's time to pack it in. And though the platform peep-toed black bootie — made famous by Alexander Wang a few seasons back — gave us a break from those overloaded "statement" heels, it's now more common in East Side bars than unemployed journalists.
One-shouldered dresses

While the one-shouldered dress is the most innocuous trend of the bunch, we're ready for a little symmetry in our frocks. And maybe some long sleeves.
