Blogroll Please...
Recently, someone asked us what blogs we read—a rather common question in today’s digital world. And weirdly, despite having 563 subscriptions on our Google Reader, we drew a blank. Not cool, since the silence made us sound like a less connected version of Sarah Palin (if such a thing is even possible).
So we took to our RSS feeds for five fashion blogs that, as of late, have become daily stops. These aren’t simply pictures of strangers modeling crap from their closets (and in desperate need of a hearty sandwich and, so it sometimes seems, a job), but cool fashion musings and selections that actually add value to our busy time wasting schedule.
Unlike Sarah Palin.

1. Mrs Lilien’s Styling House: You know those awesome front-of-book magazine spreads that feature minimal words but tons of product (and, lets be honest, are sometimes the sole reason for buying the magazine in the first place)? Produced by graphic designer Kelley Lilien, Mrs. Lilien’s Styling House rounds up delectable décor, accessories, jewelry, makeup and clothing and arranges them into neat, themed groupings—perfect whether you need your own outfit inspiration or are just looking for a hostess gift. A recent 1960s brunch-themed post included a pair of Manolo Blahnik leopard-print flats, oversized Dior shades and a pair of bright red Guerlain lipstick. While an Aquarius-themed round up from February highlighted a sequined cobalt clutch by Halston, Catherine Malandrino’s killer taffeta dress and a Jonathan Adler pillow that says, simply, Aquarius. With updates that range from daily to every few days, Mrs. Lilien should be a frequent stop on your World Wide Web exploration missions. blog.mrslilien.com

2. N.E.E.T. Magazine: Started in 2005 by a twenty-something British editor who goes by Stephanie J (yes, just J), N.E.E.T. aims to highlight independent designers from all corners of the globe. You can read the site’s blog, where highlights include a sampling of work from British photog Gemma Booth, Vancouver boutique owner Amy Renee York’s favorite line of recycled leather bags and pictures from the home of Swedish illustrator Sandra Juto. You can also peruse each well laid out monthly “issue” that passes for any glossy available on the stands, if you don't mind a minor wait while it loads. neetmagazine.com

3. Waitin Round 2 be a Millionaire: This cool little blog, helmed by 24 year-old Long Beach resident Sara M., is a must-stop during show season for its collection of backgroundless, grouped runway shots that allow you to capture the essence of a collection minus the hours of scouring Style.com. Think of this one-day rich gal as your very own research intern. wr2bam.com

4. Mary Catherine Moody: The namesake blog of University of Alabama senior and budding fashion designer Mary Catherine Moody features pictures, lots and lots of pictures. We’re usually more into words. But when said pictures are of designer Zuhair Murad’s beaded cocktail dresses and disco-worthy, multicolored Marc Jacobs clutches that actually make us pissed to be poor, we don't mind a bit of pure eye candy. marycatherinemoody.blogspot.com

5. Fashion Gone Rogue: How about fashion gone right? One of our biggest pleasures in life is picking up a stack of fashion magazines in languages we can’t read or speak and flipping through to see what’s up around the globe. Call it our own little vacation, minus being groped by airport security. Now, with this amazing blog (which happens to be the sister blog to popular menswear site Fashionisto), one can now travel the fashionable world for free (nice, considering a Paris Vogue will set you back $15). Featuring spreads from Vogue Brazil, Marie Claire Italia, Purple and French Revue de Models, among many others, Fashion Gone Rogue is a great glimpse into the professional work of fashion editors all over the world. fashiongonerogue.com
