Gina Lamanna, owner of hidden-gem boutique Spool, dishes on her favorite pieces for fall.

West L.A. boutique Spool keeps a low profile. Which is entirely the point. The appointment-only shop, which specializes in luxe contemporary fashion, caters to a clutch of high-profile celebrities, stylists and L.A. power players who'd rather not field autograph requests in the dressing room.

But owner Gina Lamanna, a former buyer for some of L.A.'s marquee stores, has the kind of quietly fashion-forward taste that feels especially appropriate right now. Yummy cashmere cardis, simple silk tunics, beautifully tailored jackets — these are the super sophisticated day-to-night pieces you pull out of your closet again and again.

We asked Lamanna to pick her six indispensible items for fall from her covetable inventory. And it's no shock that we're obsessed with them all:

Lover the Label silk maxi skirt, $650.

"I love this skirt for so many reasons. The fluid lines make it flattering and comfortable. I wore it every other day during New York Fashion Week, styled with a simple white tee, vintage sequins jacket and ballet flats for showroom appointments."

Of Two Minds collarless tweed blazer, $415.

"This jacket because is classic and timeless, and the color is beautiful and flattering on all women. It has a bit of an edgy feel with its raw edges and hook & eye closures, and a bit of a Chanel feel without breaking the bank. I like it with a pencil skirt and silk tie blouse, then swap out the skirt for a pair of grey velvet jeans to meet your gal pals for happy hour."

John Patrick Organic boyfriend waffle knit cardigan, $395.

"This is the best cardigan ever. Last year they did this in nude, so I was so thrilled they did a repeat this season in black and grey. Extra soft, cozy cashmere. Great for those lazy Sundays, cute with leggings and tall riding boots, but sexy with a simple tissue-thin white cotton t-shirt, skinny jeans and a beautiful silk scarf."

The Looker skinny grey velvet pants by Mother, $195.

"These feel effortless, and are day-to-night in a great color with a fabulous fit. I would pair them with a beautiful with a silk camisole and heels for date night, and with a cute fitted blazer and flats for a more polished daytime look."

Burning Torch fingerless recycled cashmere gloves, $125.

"These gloves are the perfect accessory for cooler weather. They add a bit of an edge to your wardrobe, and also make a great gift."

Agnette jacket by IRO, $495.

"Every gal should own a little red in their wardrobe, be it a red bag, shoes or fab jacket. This jacket is a statement piece. It's soft, has a nice weight and is just super cool. Style it with some boyfriend jeans or pair it with this season's midi-length skirts."
