Binki Shapiro, the multi-instrumentalist and singer for L.A. band Little Joy — also featuring Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti — is lined up to be one of this year's "It" girls at Coachella.

We know — the term is as overused as a Trader Joe's grocery cart, but the East Side denizen will be DJing the most fashion-y pool party at the festival (a Kanon Organic Vodka sponsored fete at designer Phillip Lim's rental pad), alongside perma-"It" Girl Alexa Chung and Myles Hendrik.

And last night, Shapiro helped kick off the party with a pre-Coachella soiree at the Standard Hotel downtown, where she manned the turntables. On the eve of the three-day music extravaganza, we talked all things Coachella with Fab's better half.

What are you looking forward to most about Coachella?

I like Coachella because I rarely make it out to shows these days, so there are a ton of bands I love that I haven't had the chance to see live. this gives me the opportunity to check them all out in one weekend! Kind of like musical speed dating. I'm also super looking forward to my pal, Alia Shawkat's, first-ever art show at the Melissa Morgan Fine Art Gallery. And it's always kind of fun to see which friends from around the world pop up in Palm Springs. It's usually a nice surprise — knock on wood.

What are you packing to wear?

Super-light clothes that I can wring out after I've drenched them and Karen Walker sunglasses.

What's your beauty routine going to be? Do you wear makeup in the heat?

I don't really have a beauty routine. I guess it's just 'wake up and hope for the best!'

How long have you been DJing? Tell us about how you landed the gig DJing at the most stylish party at Coachella...

I've been DJing for a few years now. I'm really not that great at the mixing and fading bit, but I do thouroughly enjoy playing music I love that I know everyone can have fun to.

I've been friends with Phillip and Maria (his right-hand man) for a couple years now and they asked me to play. I DJed their party in New York earlier this year and we had a lot of fun busting out the old 90's R&B jams. I hope that's why they invited me back.

What's your plan in terms of seeing bands -- who are you going to be sure not to miss?

Sometimes it gets a bit tricky to see all the bands you intend to see, but my goal at the moment is to see Arcade Fire, The Strokes, PJ Harvey, Twin Shadow, MEN, Here We Go Magic, Lauryn Hill, Foster the People and The Morning Benders.

Where are you staying?

I'm staying with my friend Alia at her parents' house because I enjoy spending my adult life trying to get back to being 13.

What's happening with the band next?

Little Joy is taking a bit of a breather at the moment. there's so much going on at the moment with The Strokes, so Fab is fully in that world and I'm working on a collaboration with Adam Green of the Moldy Peaches. Were all keeping busy, just on different things at the moment.
